What comes up in your mind when you say the Faculty of Medicine in Hradec Králové?

Family atmosphere, emphasis on clinical practice, demanding study, key exams (for us Anatomy, Physiology, Pathological Physiology, Pathological Anatomy, Surgery, Internal Medicine…), but also the area itself, ie Hradec Králové parks, confluence, “Stříbrňák” lake and student life.

What experience associated with studying at the faculty do you remember the most?

I love remembering how I met my wife in the kitchen of Na Kotli dormitory most of all. Now we no longer recall alone, we share our study experiences with our three children. In the field of study, there were legendary exams in physics, a „flagtest“ in anatomy, pathophysiology, but also medics´ events such as „the halving of medics“ or the last lectures….

What do you consider to be the greatest success in your career so far?

In my personal life, this is clearly my family. In the professional one, it is the fact of getting appointed Professor of Anesthesiology, Intensive Care Medicine and Algesiology, in terms of further development of the field, it is the completion of two habilitation procedures of my doctoral students. In the field of tuition, it is the establishment of the educational and publication portal AKUTNĚ.CZ [ISSN 1803-179X] and managing of the Simulation Center of the Faculty of Medicine of Masaryk University Project. In the field of science, it is a receipt of the Best Paper Award IJOA in the field of obstetric anesthesia and a repeated receipt of the prestigious national publication awards (Dvořáček, Keszler and Kalenda Prize).

What hobbies are you into in your free time?

I try to do my best to compensate my family for the time when I can’t be with them. That is why we live actively together, we enjoy hiking, cycling trips, but we also play golf together.
