Graduation Year: 1981

Field: General Medicine

Current position: Head Doctor of Neurology and Geriatrics Helmstedt (Lower Saxony)

How did your career develop after graduating from FM HK?

Nastily – first, Regional Institute of National Health in Banská Bystrica – here labelled as a completely unpromising rebel and rioter. 1986 – Emigration to Germany; Entering the Department of Neurology at the University of Heidelberg, further qualification, scientific cooperation and clinical growth, then, since 1994 – the position of head doctor of the Department of Neurology – until now at various clinics (Hamburg, Magdeburg, Helmstedt), currently head Doctor in Helmstedt (Lower Saxony), probably retirement in 3 – 4 years.

What comes up in your mind when you say the Faculty of Medicine in Hradec Králové?

Nicest years of my life, a small high-quality faculty. I learned a lot here and I was better than my German colleagues in many ways – in terms of medical education and basic knowledge from the faculty, esp. in theory. The Germans had more practical training – we lacked that.

What experience associated with studying at the faculty do you remember the most?

I have no exceptional experience – almost all memories are very nice and positive. Of course, the most beautiful ones from the dormitory will remain private.

What do you consider to be the greatest success in your career so far?

That me, a foreigner, got to the end of the career ladder in Germany – in the Czechoslovak Republic I had no chances (communist criteria).

What hobbies are you into in your free time?

Skiing, horse riding, hunting.
